Hi! I am Sahani
I’ve been travelling for as long as I can remember — quite literally, since I was just three months old. Over the years, though, my relationship with travel has evolved. What began as a quest to tick off popular landmarks has grown into a desire to explore with more intention, connect with communities, and understand the places I visit beyond the surface.
For the past decade, my professional journey has focused on social impact. Somewhere along the way, I realised that travel, too, could be a powerful tool for positive change. It sparked my passion for a different kind of exploration: adventures that fuel the spirit, embrace diverse cultures, celebrate local ways of life, and encourage us to be more thoughtful about how we move through the world.
So, why share these stories?
Our planet is increasingly feeling the strain of overtourism and an ever-expanding travel industry. But I don’t believe the answer is simply to stop travelling. I believe we can travel better — making choices that respect the environment, support local communities, and allow us to experience places more meaningfully. Travel, after all, is one of life’s greatest teachers.
Through Sahani Wanders, I share conscious travel stories, personal reflections, practical tips and guides, and what I learn along the way. I hope this space encourages you to look beyond the bucket list, journey a little more thoughtfully, and leave the places you visit a little better than you found them.

A little about my work
My work outside travel has centred on social impact, sustainability and communications. Over the past decade, I’ve worked with the UN, international non-profits and research institutions on several subject matters from climate resilience to human rights and media. Those experiences have shaped the way I look at travel too – not just as a way of seeing new places, but as something that is deeply connected to the people, communities and environments that make those places what they are.
